So… Tuesday marked my one year anniversary with the company… and it sure doesn’t feel like it’s been a year at all. First thing I need to point out is that my close friends, the people that really know me well also know that I’m not much of one for all this “Political Correctness” stuff. From my perspective it leads to confusion and misunderstanding. I tend to be direct and to the point and let the chips fall where they may. And with that having been said… keep it mind if you decide to keep reading.

First and foremost I’m a recovering alcoholic and have spent a total of two (non-contiguous) years on the streets. I’ve experienced life from the underbelly of society and by the age of 35 I had more life experience than most have by the age of 60. On September 17’th of 1984 I decided that I’d had enough of that life and with the help of a dear friend… I stopped drinking… and enrolled in the San Diego Community College District and started working on my education. It took me a year and a half year just to get my education up to high school level and another year and half towards an AA in mathematics and electronics. But alas, the financial aid expired and I had to get back into the workforce. With the education I had at that time it was enough to get me into the technical field. During my studies in electronics I became fascinated with microprocessors and then of course computers and I was able to start working my way up in the world.

To make a long story a little shorter… I started working  in the computer field and before I knew it I was working as a Field Technician, then promoted to WAN Technician… on and on. Prior to joining the team where I am now though, I had spent 13 years as a “One-Man-Band IT Shop” for three different small companies and although it was fun for the most part it, was exceedingly stressful. I didn’t really have anyone to turn to when a problem was taking what seemed to be an eternity to figure out. For years it felt as though the entire world sat on my shoulders and the stress was starting to kill me. I desperately missed being able to work with people who could understand the words that were coming out of my mouth instead of giving me the “glazed eyes” look!

During the last year with my previous employer a close friend (and previous colleague from years before) started asking me to get a resume in with the company he was at. He kept telling me how great it was but I just wasn’t too sure about that. I finally took his advice but didn’t really think anything would ever come of it because all of the other companies viewed the “one-man-band” thing as a problem. But the next thing I knew I was called in for an interview… then another and yet a third and this was all after having ‘laid my cards on the table’ with them as it were. Within a week they were making an offer… I was both shocked and thrilled!

Now here I am… one year after accepting their generous offer. I have worked for/with a lot of companies over the years of my life… some good, some bad (really bad) and some fun. This past year though, has been the best year of my life. It was a little overwhelming at first… there was so much to learn but I stuck with it… and they stuck with me, encouraging me when I needed it, supporting me when I needed help… and most of all, they all “understand the words that are coming out of my mouth”! When these people say “team”, they not only know what that word means, they truly live by its meaning. I’m with what I believe to be the BEST group of people on this earth, and I can’t thank them enough for giving me a shot at joining the team!

At this point if you’re still reading… if you think for one minute that I’m just blowing smoke here… go back and READ that first paragraph again. I am truly blessed… and thrilled to be with the Logically Team (and family).
