MORE EDUCATED DISCUSSIONS WITH COLLEGE KIDS/RECENT GRADS IN THE WORK BREAKROOM!
(yes - our college student vegan educates us all with more wisdom - see FaceLip launch for first encounter)
You shouldn’t spank children to make them behave
When asked by another person at the table, why? Their response. It’s child abuse.
My 1st Question. So, if you swat your child on the butt to make them stop running around the store and acting up, you’re committing child abuse? Their response. Yes.
My 2nd Question. How do you prevent them from running around and getting injured? Their response. You reason with them or have some other form of restraint.
My Final Question. I noticed you were shopping the other day and had your child in a harness with a leash. Isn’t that abusively treating them like an animal? Their response. A pissed off and dumbfounded look.
Drinking coffee is detrimental to your health.
When asked by another person at the table, why? Their response. It contains caffeine which causes all kinds of medical problems.
My 1st Question. What if you only have one cup of coffee? Their response. Even one cup can cause problems because of the stimulant and later crash effect of the caffeine.
My 2nd Question. So how do you boost your energy to keep pace with the work load? Their response. You have an energy drink.
My Final Question. Have you ever read the fine print, which clearly lists caffeine as part of the contents, on that energy drink you’re consuming? Their response. A pissed off and dumbfounded look.
We’re understaffed and overworked, especially when it comes to operating the various cutting machines throughout the store. Customers wind up having to wait for assistance with shopping or getting items cut. We need more help.
When asked by another person at the table, Management won’t hire more people so what can be done? Their response. I proposed that we all be trained on all the cutting machines to help reduce the work load and customer waiting time. Management agrees.
My 1st Question. So, in addition to running the key, rope and chain cutting machines in hardware, I’ll be trained on the lumber machines, carpet machine, blinds machine, electrical wire machine, and paint mixer? Their response. Yes.
My 2nd Question. How will this help reduce the work load and customer wait time? Their response. Everyone will be trained on all the equipment so more people will be able to help.
My Final Question. So, management won’t hire more people but will train us on all the cutting equipment. Won’t this concept increase our work load, and customer waiting time, as we’ll now be required to leave our department and help out in another? Their response. A pissed off and dumbfounded look.
I LOVE these breakroom discussions!
