Bummer… had to leave work a little early yesterday… got pretty nauseous during the day. Hospital warned me that might happen as did my brother Jeff. Feeling MUCH better today though so back to work! Looks like Time Warner Cable’s DNS servers are not responding this morning. Fortunately my LAN doesn’t use them but the web site I’m hosting for a friend is. Hopefully this will get resolved soon.

Tuesday morning after a somewhat productive day yesterday. Spiceworks reported that the remote site (the “C and T” site in Santa Fe Springs) went down for just a couple of minutes last night at just after 9:00 PM. I’m hoping it wasn’t the new bonded T-1 circuits up there. Going to have to put a monitor in place to keep an eye on that for a while I guess. After all that DRAMA to get them going, they better NOT be dropping. Been heavily reading up on this old Citr...

Weekends always seem so short don’t they? This one sure did. Spent most of yesterday laying in front of the TV watching a few movies and sleeping. Could still use a lot more sleep today. Seems to be the “norm” since the crash… even more so than before anyway. Hands are healing up at last so perhaps in another week or so I’ll be able to get back on the Stratoliner. If so… need to get the car in for some much needed SERVICE. It’s way behind schedule and I ha...

Although I still can’t ride the Stratoliner just yet, Deb and I rode along behind the chapter yesterday for the May chapter ride. Was a lot of fun even though it would have been MORE fun on the bikes, it was really good to see everyone. After lunch in Descanso, we headed on down to brother Jeff’s place for a little while and then home for the day. All in all it was a really GOOD day. Going to stay around the house all day today and just nap and take it easy before t...

Alright. All workstations that had been left running at the office have been restarted, Platinum and Citrix virtual servers both fully backed up manually, home servers fully updated, cleaned up and defragmented as well as all workstations and laptops. Now… off to Motoworld to follow along behind the chapter for a lunch ride to Descanso Junction and then over to brother Jeff’s house to see what he, Todd and Cathy are up to. Nice relaxing day OUT of the house for a change. Nothing but that ...

Friday morning and the first week back at work was a productive one. Santa Fe Springs office is up and running, another whacked machine all cleaned up and functioning again and a new replacement machine for one of the engineers is almost ready to ship up to him. Poor guy has been struggling with an antique Windows XP machine with only a 36GB disk and 512 MB of RAM. Barely enough to boot the operating system, much less actually do any real work with it. A representative ...

Alright, turns out the trip to Gardena and Santa Fe Springs wasn’t a waste of time after all. Almost though as AT&T wasn’t going to do the “Test and Turn Up” of the circuits until 7:00 PM. But the President (Eric) made some rather urgent calls up the chain of command and got it DONE. Once I got the firewall in place the one thing that I did not expect to happen without some fiddling around was the VPN coming up on its own! No firewall I have ever worked with...

Tuesday morning, the day after a pointless drive up to Gardena and Santa Fe Springs. AT&T is having problems with Verizon getting one of the three circuits up and running for the Santa Fe Springs bonded T-1’s so the 11:00 AM “Test and Turn Up” never happened. Hopefully this will be resolved today so that the “Test and Turn Up” will take place early tomorrow morning. That’ll mean yet another drive up there and back.

Alright… back to work today and it starts with a LONG drive up to Gardena and then over to Santa Fe Springs for the T-1 circuits testing and turn-up. Going to be a really long day for sure. Should be hearing from the Law Tigers today also to get the ball rolling at least or to see if it’s even worth the trouble anyway. Will likely be hearing from the insurance company today as well.

Saturday morning… and today I need to get new laces for my boots (they cut the laces off one of them to get it off my foot) and try to find a new pair of sunglasses. I suspect the ones I had went flying off somewhere when the bastard hit me so of course they’re long gone. May swing by Motoworld as well just to say “Howdy” to everyone. Have to make sure I have everything I need in order to head back to work on Monday. A long drive up to the Gardena office a...

JEESE! Nothing but the RUN-AROUND by the San Diego Police Department trying to figure out WHERE the damn BIKE was! Even Joanne, my Insurance Adjuster, was getting the same thing. It took me telling the police department that at this point I have no choice but to start reporting it STOLEN… and SUDDENLY they FOUND it. Imagine that! It was at Eastgate Towing right on Mira Mar Road. Joanne was about to do the same thing… just report “stolen / theft”. I called the im...

Well I checked the calendar this morning and today IS Wednesday at least. Doctor’s appointments went well yesterday and although the regular doctor deferred to the hand surgeon to say whether or not I can return to work on Monday (which he did of course), still not sure how that’s going to work out as there is at least one person who is saying that the letter from the doctor isn’t “specific enough” for them. Doesn’t mention whether or not there are any “re...

Wednesday morning and two doctor’s appointments today. One is just a ‘follow-up’ with my “primary care physician” and the other is with the “hand surgeon” who had seen me in hospital last week. Still curious as to why my left hand seems to hurt more than my right hand does (the one that is actually fractured). The folks at the hospital all seemed to think it may be due to the paramedics trying to get an IV into it Tuesday night on the way to the hospital. ...

Well… as expected, still feel like crap this morning. Aches and pains in strange places but still feeling even better than yesterday. Insurance Adjuster is supposed to be by today and hopefully we’ll find out where the bike is this week. As soon as they locate it they’ll have it taken to Motoworld for evaluation and we’ll go from there. Going beg and plead with my “primary care physician” to clear me to return to work next Monday. Although I’ll likely stil...

Sunday morning and definitely feeling a little weird again today. Still to be expected of course. Got the insurance claim filed for the bike yesterday and according to my agent as well as the claim writer I have really good coverage on both of the bikes. Still going to be a while before the police report is ready but at least the “ball” is rolling. I’ve been with this insurance company since around 1985 and have never had to file any sort of claim with them before...

Well now… haven’t posted an update since Tuesday morning. Having a really hard time typing with only one hand but I seem to be managing it a little better today. A bone in my right hand is crushed according to the hospital but it’s my left hand that really hurts right now. Hospital wants’ me on disability for at least three weeks but that sure isn’t going to happen at all. I’d go insane if I had to that, not to mention the fact that we couldn’t even make t...

And another day begins. This week is already off to really bad start and doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better. The good thing is that I’m still alive and well… and I’m surrounded by good friends and family.

Ah yes, had a really nice ride yesterday doing my favorite “loop” with brother Todd. It’s been such a LONG time since I’ve been able to do any riding at all other than just to and from the office. Will likely take the Raider to work today and tomorrow even though my lower back still isn’t quite right yet. Stratoliner on Wednesday as I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to run up to Gardena and Santa Fe Springs. That one is a little more comfortable for “l...

Excellent. Took some banging on it to get it going yesterday but the FWF40C is in place and fully functional. Tinkering with the internal FTP server this morning just for the hell of it. Have almost got it working the way I want. Sort of useful for moving files around between the Unix and Windows machines but not really needed. So why do it? Because I can. Going to go through the web server backup system a little later as I have some adjusting to do to accommodate the n...
